Crawl Space Encapsulation in Mannington, WV

Project Manager: Thomas Kirl

Customer Name: Mr & Mrs. R.

Location: Mannington, WV 25276

Problem

Mr. R called into The Basement Doctor because he was having issues with his crawl space. He noticed that his crawl space was very damp. This dampness was causing a musty smell throughout the whole crawl space area. Mr. and Mrs. R began to worry about what unhealthy conditions this could cause for their crawl space in the future. They scheduled a free consultation with The Basement Doctor to find a solution.

Solution

The Basement Doctor sent project manager Thomas Kirl out for an assessment of the crawl space. Thomas is a seasoned professional who provides service to homeowners throughout the area. During the assessment, Thomas discovered damp and musty smells along with some organic growth on the wood. Thomas also noticed that the humidity level in the crawl space was very high. After the assessment, it was determined that a crawl space encapsulation was the best option moving forward. By keeping the moisture in the dirt from evaporating, this would completely solve the problem. Crawl space encapsulation would also keep the area safe from the outside elements, including unwanted bugs and critters. The homeowners agreed to move forward with the installation project. The Basement Doctor crew successfully completed a full crawl space encapsulation. The homeowners were given peace of mind knowing their crawl space problem was solved permanently.

Carbon Fiber Foundation Installation in Garrison, KY

Project Manager: Thomas Kirl

Customer Name: Jim S.

Location: Garrison, KY 41141

Problem

The homeowner called in to The Basement Doctor because he had a bowing basement wall. He noticed some cracks on that wall as well, and it increased his concern. He was worried that if he didn’t address the issue soon, the overall structural integrity of the wall would be affected. The homeowner needed a solution, so he scheduled a free consultation with an expert.

Solution

The Basement Doctor sent Project Manager Thomas Kirl out for an assessment. Thomas has a wealth of experience, and provides customers with problem-solving solutions daily. Thomas had a detailed discussion with the homeowner so he could properly diagnose the issue.  Thomas performed a complete inspection, and found that one of the walls was indeed bowing inward.  The homeowner wanted to reinforce the wall without having to dig up the yard and rebuild it. Knowing that exterior excavation was not an option, Thomas determined that carbon fiber supports would correct the problem and keep the wall from moving further inward. After the homeowner’s approval, The Basement Doctor crew installed the carbon fiber supports on the bowing wall and restored peace of mind for the homeowner.

Leaky Basement in Charleston, WV

Project Manager: Thomas Kirl

Customer Name: Margaret M.

Location: Charleston, WV 25302

Problem

The homeowner called in to The Basement Doctor because she wanted to address water in her leaky basement. Ms. M stated that this has been an ongoing issue that needed to be inspected by a professional. When water is in a basement it can cause damage to your home and wallet. The homeowner also wanted to sell her home, but couldn’t put it on the market without fixing this major issue. She stated that she had tried many solutions but none seemed to work! The homeowner scheduled a free estimate that could provide her with a solution.

Solution

The Basement Doctor of West Virginia sent project manager Thomas Kirl out to assess the leaky basement. Thomas has exceptional experience in this industry, and in making sure our customers are satisfied. Thomas went out to determine the source of the problem and give a solution based on his findings. During the consultation, Thomas determined that the terrain features and the failure of the existing foundation drain were the cause of water in the basement. The Basement Doctor of West Virginia team came in and installed a sub floor waterproofing and sump pump system with a battery backup unit. Whitecap wall was also installed on her basement wall. As a company we take pride in providing our homeowners with peace of mind and a safer living environment.

Special Consideration

Due to the nature of older construction, a wall system was needed to control water seepage high up on the wall. White Cap Wall was installed with the waterproofing. This not only provided protection from water coming in high on the wall, but also brightened up the basement. This was crucial for the home’s presentation, making it an inviting place for potential buyers.

Wet Basement Waterproofing in Spencer, WV

Project Manager: Thomas Kirl

Customer Name: Vicky J.

Location: Spencer, WV 25276

Problem

The homeowner called in to The Basement Doctor WV wanting to fix some issues in her basement. She noticed during heavy rains, water would seep into the basement. The water seepage started causing multiple issues including: damage to the dry wall, trim and insulation. Mold had started to form in small amounts and a musty smell had developed. These were multiple issues that developed one after the other, and the homeowner needed assistance right away. The homeowner scheduled a free estimate so we could provide her with a solution.

Solution

The Basement Doctor WV sent project manager Thomas Kirl out to diagnose the problem. Thomas is a seasoned professional who is proven in this industry assisting homeowners. Thomas determined that the existing foundation drains had failed, and was preventing water from draining away from the foundation. He had an in depth discussion with the homeowner about what they wanted to accomplish with the basement. It was agreed that interior sub-floor waterproofing and a sump pump was needed. The customer also wanted to take precautionary measures in the event of a power outage. A battery backup was installed along with the 1/2hp primary pump. This gave the homeowner further peace of mind that water could no longer leak in and damage her home.

Special Consideration

Mrs. J had other estimates from different companies to install exterior drainage. The homeowner didn’t want to dig around the outside through means of excavation, which would damage her landscaping. She didn’t like the warranty that was provided by those companies either. What made Mrs. J choose The Basement Doctor WV; was our ability to complete the work in one day without destroying her yard, and our lifetime warranty!
